We’ve Pledged $20K to Charity to Raise Awareness for KiwiSaver and Retirement Planning

At Generate, we're excited to announce a new initiative where we’ve pledged $20,000 to charity to help raise awareness about the importance of KiwiSaver and retirement planning. In partnership with the Dom Harvey Podcast, we’re sparking meaningful conversations about saving for retirement, while also giving back to the community.

Through this campaign, Dom Harvey will ask his podcast guests money-related questions, and for every guest that participates, we’ll donate $500 to a charity of their choice. Our goal is simple: to encourage Kiwis to start thinking about their own retirement, the costs involved, and whether they have a clear plan in place to achieve their financial goals.

“We’re doing this to help people think seriously about their future,” says Tegan Macnab, our Marketing & Communications Specialist. “Many people aren’t sure if they’re making the most of their KiwiSaver investment, and we want to change that. It’s not just about saving for retirement—it’s about making sure you have enough to live the life you want.”

Celebrities Getting Behind the Cause

We’ve been lucky to have some amazing New Zealand personalities get behind our initiative, including Brodie Kane, Christian Cullen, Justin Marshall, and Generate favourite, Luke Kemmys. Their involvement has helped raise awareness and encouraged more conversations about KiwiSaver and retirement planning. So far, donations have been made to several deserving charities, including Assistance Dogs Trust, Brain Tumour Support, Motor Neuron Disease NZ, and suicide prevention charities.

Helping Kiwis Maximise Their Retirement Savings

At Generate, we have a dedicated team of KiwiSaver advisers located across New Zealand, ready to help Kiwis better understand their KiwiSaver options. Our advisers make KiwiSaver feel more tangible by showing you projections of how much you’re currently on track to save by the time you retire. This gives you a clear picture of whether your current savings plan aligns with your retirement goals.

“Even small changes, like switching to a different fund type or increasing contribution rates, can make a big difference,” explains Jake Mickleson, one of our KiwiSaver advisers. “In many cases, these adjustments can add tens of thousands of dollars to your KiwiSaver savings by the time you retire.”

Our mission is to help as many people as possible maximise their KiwiSaver benefits and feel confident about their financial future. Whether you’re just starting your savings journey or nearing retirement, our advisers are here to provide the guidance you need. We’ll work with you to set up your KiwiSaver account to match your retirement goals and keep you on track.

“We know how important it is to have a plan, and we’re here to help,” adds Jake. “Retirement might seem far off for some, but the decisions you make today will have a lasting impact. We want to make sure every Kiwi is on the right path to their dream retirement.”
