1. How to make KiwiSaver contributions

How to make KiwiSaver contributions

Contributing to your Generate KiwiSaver Scheme account is easy.

If you are employed

If you are between 18 and 65 years and employed* you will contribute via PAYE, which means the money will come out of your pay and into your KiwiSaver account automatically. You will need to let your employer know your preferred contribution rate (either 3%, 4%, 6%, 8% or 10%). We are unable to communicate this to your employer. Your employer will ask you to complete a KS2 form. If no deductions are received by the IRD they will write to your employer requesting them to start making deductions.

If you are unemployed, self-employed or wish to make additional contributions to your KiwiSaver account

There are a couple of ways that you can make voluntary contributions towards your KiwiSaver account:

Online banking

The easiest way to contribute to your account is via online banking. You can choose between setting up an automatic payment or a one-off payment. Generate KiwiSaver Scheme is a saved payee with most major banks, so you can easily select us when setting up your payment.

If you can’t find our payee details in your online banking, you can fill in our details manually:

Generate KiwiSaver Scheme bank details:

Account Name: Generate KiwiSaver Scheme

Account number: 12-3244-0004191-00

To ensure your payment reaches your account without a delay, please use the details below in the payment reference sections. Payments with incorrect references will be returned to the payer account, which may take up to five business days.

- Particulars: Surname

- Code: Initials (add your full name initials)

- Reference: Member number (include 5-6 digits of your GEN number)

Direct Debit

If you are an existing member, you are able to set up your direct debit by logging into your Generate online account.

Or, complete our direct debit form and email it to info@generatekiwisaver.co.nz. Please allow 10 business days for the Direct Debit to be set up.

Please note that payments made via DD or automatic payment can take up to 3 business days to reflect on your member online account under your transactions.

If you want to update an existing Direct Debit, please contact us directly.

IRD Payments (through your online banking)

  1. Select Inland Revenue Pay Tax option
  2. Select KiwiSaver Member Account (KSS)
  3. Please add your IRD number when prompted

Please note that due to IRD processing time, payments can take approx. 10 business days to be reflected on your Generate online member portal under your transactions*.

*The Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009 places an obligation on all financial services to collect the source of funds and/or wealth for large deposits. Once you have made the deposit, we may require you to complete a form and provide evidence for the source of funds and/or wealth.

Once these documents have been returned to us, these will be reviewed, and further information may be requested. Once the review process is complete and supporting documents are accepted, we will allocate your funds according to your investment strategy. Please allow 5-10 business days for this process (subject to all required documents being submitted and approved).
